
This is the area where a new volunteer is most likely to start.
Getting to know how the railway works and what the Safety Systems are is necessary before any track level work can be undertaken.
Before being allowed to go “trackside” all volunteers must pass the “PTS” test to
show that they know how to keep themselves and everyone else safe around the railway.
Above: Guard Doug Wentel with a stand promoting the Railway at a Tourism fair. Such activities are vital to attract the interest of coach operators in group bookings or charters.

Photography and DVD crews. There are 3 photographers and the No1 on the DVD crew on this picture. The Magazine “Steam at Llangollen” and the website constantly need new pictures of the railway.
Hard Labour
Shovel, pick, crowbar and tree saw wielding are constantly in demand for trackwork, vegetation clearance and levering things into place.

The Mince Pie Man
An important job on the Santa Specials Trains.
The kids get their present from Santa and the Mums & Dads (Aunts, Uncles, Cousins etc etc get their mince pies from the Mince Pie Man.
Other jobs on the Santa Specials are “The Big Elf” who helps Santa with the presents, the Sherry Service personnel and various animals and characters (in costume of course)
